Chandigarh: The Under-14 boys’ cricket team of Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 35, Chandigarh, emerged victorious in the 2026 Inter-School State Cricket Tournament, defeating St. Joseph’s School-44 by 5 wickets in the final.
The final, organized by the School Education Department, Chandigarh Administration, was played at DAVSSS-8. St. Joseph’s School-44 won the toss and elected to bat first. GMSSS-35’s bowlers, led by Rajvansh, who took three wickets for 11 runs in four overs, restricted the opposition to 86 runs in 20 overs.
Chasing the target, GMSSS-35 displayed a confident batting performance and reached the target in just 15.5 overs, losing five wickets. Shaurya Singh scored 23 runs off 26 balls, while Arpit Sharma contributed 45 runs, guiding the team to a memorable victory.
The team’s excellent fielding and strong coordination also played a crucial role in the win. The players were congratulated by their Sports Teacher, Dr. Kuldeep Mehra, for their outstanding performance.
